I hope you’ve enjoyed reading all about my wedding ceremony and reception because I have absolutely loved writing about them. I think one of the best parts of writing about personal events on a blog is having that record of moments in your life and the opportunity to share it with others. Now that we covered all the big moments of the wedding, I wanted to share a few photos from getting ready the day-of as well as our first look and portraits we took at the State Capitol.
On the morning of our wedding, our day started at 7:30 a.m. when our hair and makeup ladies arrived. I am fortunate to have a friend who is incredibly talented at hair and makeup, so it was really fun and special to have her do it. If you are in Northern California (she is based in Santa Rosa), I definitely recommend you check out Christine. While we all got ready, we munched on bagels and snacks, sipped champagne, and enjoyed some quality lady time. We stayed at an Airbnb in Sacramento which had live chickens in the backyard — which a few of the ladies absolutely loved.
I was originally going to try and book us a hotel suite but found the prices to be just too high for not enough space (several girls getting ready, family, our photographers, our makeup team — so many people to fit in!), so I decided to rent a small house through Airbnb. It was maybe half the cost of a hotel suite in Downtown Sacramento and provided us with so much space! It had two bedrooms, a living room, and a fully stocked kitchen (the host even left us some breakfast items!) and could sleep up to six people. It also had a beautiful backyard with a garden and, of course, the chickens! Here is a link to the listing. If you are in the Sacramento area and need a place to stay, I definitely recommend!
Our photographer, Krizel, arrived around noon to take a few photos of us getting ready and some detail shots of my dress. My dress was a Oleg Cassini Ball Gown from David’s Bridal. The bridesmaids’ dresses were also from David’s Bridal and were in the color “Wine.” I love all the images she caught of us getting ready and some detail shots of my wedding look!
At 2:00 p.m., the limousine arrived to pick up all the girls. We put on some fun pop music for the ride over to the first look, which we took at the State Capitol. For anyone unfamiliar with what a “first look” is, it’s a moment before the ceremony for you and your partner to see each other for the first time with just close friends and family. Since our wedding was exclusively indoors, we really wanted to have some portraits with natural lighting. We also think California’s State Capitol is beautiful, so we were excited to have some photos there. Also, getting to take so many portraits before the wedding means not nearly as many need to be taken afterward.
After the portraits, we made our way to The Guild for the ceremony, which you can read all about here! After the ceremony, we took some family portraits as well as a fun group shot in the theater seating with our bridal party.
After that, we went to The Mirage Banquet Halls for the reception, which I wrote all about, too, here!
Going to end this post with the best Smoosh picture taken that day <3
Hope you enjoyed my wedding recap. It was such a special day, and I am so grateful for all the love and support we received from friends and family. If you have any questions about wedding planning or any of the details of our wedding, leave them in the comments. I would be happy to answer!
